Redundancy state preference for LTM 11.3
Is there a way to set a particular unit in cluster to be preferred as active or standby? Believe there used to be a preferred redundancy state option underneath High Availability section, but this is not there anymore. Am running 11.3(3138).
Reason for asking is that am moving cluster to another location and would like to ensure that the standby unit remains standby when powering it back on and we don't get into any active/active problem. My plan was to force standby offline, shift it first, power it on and connect it to failover VLAN, release offline, it will come up as standby, check health status, then make it active so can shift the other unit across. Does this sound sane?
Thanks guys!

They removed that option when they introduced Traffic Groups where you can have 3 or more units working together.
In the absence of his partner he probably will try and go Active on you, so I would suggest that when you power the device back on that you not have any of the interface cables plugged in, log into the Management Console and Force the device Off-line, disable all of the interfaces, and then physically plug all of the interfaces back in..
You will then want to restore the HA communication first before you totally restore the device back to service.
Good luck with your move!

Thanks Michael.
Documentation says that the offline mode is now persistent across reboot, so in theory it should be ok to power standby back on, but better safe than sorry so I like your idea to disconnect cabling and shutdown all interfaces first.
Cheers
