Hi all,
I have a scenario where I need to mark a BIG-IP VIP offline, based on the status of another BIG-IP VIP which lives on another BIG-IP LTM. We have GTMs configured in a sync group whcih talk to both of these LTMs. Instead of opening up Firewall access from Self-IPs of one LTM to the servers living in the other environment, I am exploring the option of using the GTM to get the health information of the VIP living on the another BIG-IP LTM.
Appreciate your inputs!
Thanks

In GTM you have something called dependencies on your virtual servers. If you have both VIPs configured and monitred through the GTM, take the one Virtual Server, and add the other as a depenency to it. It the dependency VS is down, then the VS that has the dependency, is marked down as well. - Bhanu_9561

Laudec,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes we do leverage the dependency feature in GTM. But in this scenario, I need to build a dependency at the LTM layer. I need an LTM VIP to go up/down depending on the status of a VIP on another LTM in another environment. Just exploring the option if I could do it using GTM.
Thanks! - Hamish

You could build an external monitor that does a DNS lookup against the GTM to verify the status of a pool (i.e. wideip has 1 pool and 1 poolmember in that, if down drop the packet).
