Problems with running LTM VE on Openstack

i downloaded the KVM version 11.3 LTM VE. it boots up ok in openstack but that's about it. GUI is down. can't run any show command. says "Cannot connect to mcpd". Also i keep getting "emerg logger - Re-starting chmand" on the console. Is KVM on openstack even supported? i can't find any documentation on this.

    There is a known issue with VE that KVM is only detected properly under RHEL 6.3 and is not detected properly in other KVM scenarios, including OpenStack. The workaround is to place the following in /etc/nova/release on the KVM / nova compute node (and remove the blank lines):

    [Nova]

    vendor = Red Hat

    product = Bochs

    package = RHEL 6.3.0 PC

    The nova compute service should be restarted at minimum. Might require a reboot of the Nova compute node if restarting nova service doesn’t fix it.

  • I believe that F5 will be patching this in the very near future. An alternative approach to modifying the compute node identifier, you can make a change to the /PLATFORM file on the F5 instance as outlined here: http://blog.routedlogic.net/?p=396
