Jan 02, 2007Poolmember is a Virtual Serve ron the same box: iRule needed?
I want to implement some sort of load balancing hierarchy on one BigIp box. In this case, the pool member of pool 1 corresponds to a virtual server (VS2) on the same box(with its own pool, pool 2). Iterative load balancing.
I can't get traffic to enter the VS2 from pool 1. WebUI stats show that the pool 1 members are being hit, but VS2 is not hit.
Would I need to design an iRule to get this working? (and eg forward the traffic based upon an inserted cookie by the LB to the correct pool - in the end, pool 2)

Hello,
Having a virtual server in a pool member on the same BIG-IP has is only possible in 9.4. This hasn't been possible in prior versions.
In earlier versions, you could use a rule on VS1 to send a redirect to the VS2 if you want the client to connect there.

Thank you. I will focuss on both 9.4 and an iRule. rgds.
