Ping from source ip address

Hi,   I have F5 LTMs in our production environment. I assign the two different ip addresses on two interfaces (1.1,1.2) 1.1 --> 10.1.1.1 1.2 --> 20.1.1.1   The default route on the F5 is (0.0....

Hello Faizan,

you can use ping with -I argument like that

 ping -I source_IP dest_IP

    When I try that (on 14.1.2.3), I get:

     

    bind: Cannot assign requested address

     

    It doesn't matter whether the IP is a self IP, a float, a SNAT, or a VIP, the message is always the same.

     

    There are no route domains except the default %0.

      Stan,

       

      I had the same problem, but I found it was because I was in a different partition than the one in which my source self IP resided. From TMSH before switching to BASH do a "cd /<partition>" to switch to the partition where your self IP is, then switch to BASH an use Jad's ping command.
