opening/saving files from links

sorry for all the spamming, but just got a lot cases i need assistance with:p

the problem is as follows:

i have published a web service, using 443 traffic on both front end and back end, and this seems to be working just fine. the problem starts when trying to open/save files from links

we have narrowed this down to only files being opened using application/octet-stream, as when trying application/pdf it works just fine.

Our software developers will make a patch we can test with, to change the links to use appliation/pdf and application/tif instead of the ambigious one.

What im curious about, is if there are any special considerations i should think about when helping troubleshooting this? from my point of view, it looks like an application issue, as i see the traffic is accepted on the f5, when i look at the logged requests, as al the traffic here happens on 443. but im no expert, and we want to make sure we have covered everything, as we hope to get this into production after easter.
