OneConnect - current connections up, connections rate down. Why?

Hi,

I've enabled OneConnect in a HTTP virtual server and what I'm observing in pool stats is that while current connections went down, connections per second went up. There is no persistence profile used. There was no change in traffic volume etc. I struggle to find explanation for that. Hints much appreciated.

  • The connections going down is expected with OneConnect as it is reusing the connections. However, where are you seeing connections/sec on the pool? That is not a stats metric for a pool.

  • Thanks for reply, Brad. I'm seeing conns/sec in NewRelic plugin. What it does is it pulls ltmPoolStatServerTotConns over SNMP and uses it to calculate per second rate, if I'm correct reading the plugin code. Please, take a look at the graph

My gut feeling is however that plug-in is calculating conn/s is wrong. Total con/time do not seem correlated at all in these graphs. If you think about it how 100 total connection dived by 60s(assuming averaging over a minute) be >50cons/s. Just a gut feeling, but the calculation has to be incorrect.
