New Citrix iApp template available for download
We have posted a new
(2012_06_27) Citrix iApp template (f5.citrix_xenapp_xendesktop.2012_06_27); it
replaces
shipped version f5.citrix_xen_app and F5 contributed
version citrix_xenapp_xendesktop_apm.2012-05-03.
This version combines the 2 previous templates and supports the use of F5 dynamic Webtops which eliminates the need for Citrix Web Interface servers.
Last-changed: 2012-06
Tested Version: v11.1 HF2-4, v11.2 HF1
Introduction
Use this template to configure availability,
encryption, and remote access for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop environments.
This template configures the BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM) module as well
as Access Policy Manager (APM) for environments using Citrix Web Interface
servers in conjunction with XML Broker servers, or XML Broker servers only when
using F5 Dynamic Webtops.
Deployment Guide
A deployment guide with detailed instructions
for using this iApp template and configuring your Citrix environment is located
at http://www.f5.com/pdf/deployment-guides/xenapp-xendesktop-iapp-dg.pdf
Introduced in this version are the following
features:
*Three configuration options
-- F5 presented published applications using
Dynamic Webtops
This option configures APM or Edge Gateway to
securely proxy ICA traffic, handle authentication, present published
applications by using F5 Dynamic Webtops, and eliminates the need for Citrix
Web Interface servers. This option also configures the BIG-IP LTM to load
balance XML communication.
-- Secure ICA proxy while using Citrix Web
Interface servers
This option configures APM or Edge Gateway to
authenticate users and securely proxy ICA traffic. This
selection also configures LTM to load balance
traffic to both Web Interface servers and XML Brokers.
-- Load balance Citrix communication
A third option configures LTM to load balance
Web Interface, XML Broker, and optionally ICA traffic. Using
this option allows you to route and optimize
ICA traffic through the BIG-IP system using a standard network
virtual server or by using existing Route
Domains.
*Inline help model
There are now 3 inline message options - Full,
Condensed, and Minimal. These options allow users to customize the amount of
inline help messaging provided in the iApp.
*Basic and Advanced option
You can choose between Basic (f5 recommended)
and Advanced configuration options. Selecting Basic uses F5
recommended settings and profiles. Selecting
Advanced allows for custom profiles, use of existing monitors,
and the ability to customize advanced settings
such as load balancing method, Slow Ramp and Priority Group
Activation settings. Advanced also allows you
to attach existing APM AAA Active Directory profiles, and allows
existing iRule attachment to the BIG-IP virtual
servers.
*Security option
This option provides the ability to restrict
source address(es) to XML Broker or Web Interface virtual servers
for a multi BIG-IP system deployment.
*Supports using intermediate certificates
