Migration from Virtual to Physical
I am planning to migrate our VM to the physical hardware. The virtual devices are HA pair and running 11.2 HF2. The physical device is 3600's. My implementation plan are: 1. Install 11.2 HF2 to the physical hardware and boot to the new partition. 2. Make backup of the .ucs file from virtual and restore to the new physical hardware, run with no-license and no-platform-check - Question: would this also copy all network interface or is there additional step? 3. Config the sync group. 4. Disable all VIP's and bring it online to test for traffic 5. Schedule switch over.
Please share your experience and let me know if I am missing anything.

In a ucs file you have everything (system, network and modules configurations).
If you make a backup on your VM and import it on your physical BIG-IP you will have exactly the same configuration.
You will have to re-activate the licence because it won't be the good one that's all. What you can do in step 4 is to make your physical BIG-IP active on a traffic-group with only one virtual server (better if it can be a pre-prod one).

Running the pre-staging on one of the device today but immediately running into an error when I run the tmsh load /sys config
01070318:3: The requested media for interface 1.1 is invalid. Unexpected Error: Loading configuration process failed.

Did you make a ucs archive or just export bigip.conf and bigip_base.conf ?

Ok, so can you try this command to restore your ucs :
tmsh load sys ucs your_ucs_filename no-platform-check you will have issues with the interfaces, as they are different, you will have to edit the .conf file by hand to make this work and then reload config.
