Marking a server as offline when it is rebooted
Hi, I have a set of Windows Servers in an LTM pool. What is the ideal configuration to ensure that if/when a server rebooted, F5 marks it as offline in the pool and no further traffic goes to it (and opposite when the server is back online).
Presumably the icmp health monitor would play a part on this.
Thanks

An ICMP health monitor will check to see if the server is pingable, it would be a better idea to assign a health monitor that performs a service specific check (i.e. if your server is participating in the pool as a web server then you could use a http monitor to perform a simple GET).

Go custom monitor with send and receive string. It will achieve.

You can keep ICMP monitor at Node level. For pool-members, service based monitor it best recommended since it decides whether the server/pool-member should be considered under load balancing decision or not.
Hope that helps!
ThankYou.
