Management IP settings error

I have followed the statement that for a quick POC all NICs accept one can be removed. Once the device is started it should configure all the addresses subject to DHCP being available. Note that documentation states that it will come up with a 192.168.1.245/24 address by default, which it does. This can also be listed using the appropriate commands. I tried following the instructions to set my own IP address as described below:

1 - Disabled DHCP - modify sys global-settings mgmt-dhcp disabled

2 - Create new address - create /sys management-ip [x.x.x.x/x]

After which I receive the error:

I have also tried to use the config command but this results in the same error.

Please also note that when using the default 4 NICs, all of the commands work and I can connect to the device over the nominated IP address.

My driver for using a single NIC is the assumption that this would make it easier and simpler for a quick POC. If the community suggests otherwise, I will just use 4 NICs.

  • You cannot use a single NIC on current F5 platforms. There must be a physically separate management NIC and at least one dataplane NIC.
