Is the pool reachable via a TMM switch port (ie, not the mgmt port)? Do you see any packets being sent to the server? You can use tcpdump like this to check (where 1.1.1.1 is the syslog server):
tcpdump -enni 0.0 -Xs0 host 1.1.1.1
