License Reactivation Issue on vCMP
Dear all my friends,
We have one BIG-IP i10800 with vCMP license.
Priorly we have 4 vCMP Guests on that, and all the Host and Guests run TMOS v13.1.1.5.
Yesterday, I Reactived our license on vCMP Host, and installed TMOS v14.1.2, but after installing new TMOS, none of the Guests run properly and they are not accessible !!!
I guess that the mentioned issue might be related to the lack of automatic license update from vCMP Host to vCMP Guests, after License Reactivation.
While F5 told that the license will be updated auto. from Host to Guest. But, in our case, it has not been working based on the documents...
What is your idea in this regard?
All your help and tips will be appreciated.

based on what i see here: https://support.f5.com/csp/article/K84554955#vcmp , the license should have propagated to the guests. I would reactivate the license on the Host and then reboot the guests to see if they pick up the reactivated license. If not, you could try to boot back into the old partition, reactivate the license there again, then try the upgrade again.
Other than that, I'm not sure, other than to call support.

Hi James,
Thanks for your answer. But, unfortunately there was no success in this regard. Totally, I'm not sure that if the mentioned issue is related to the lack of license update between Host and Guests.
But the important tip is that we've faced this issue exactly after license reactivation and TMOS upgrade from 13.1.1.5 to 14.1.2.1.
We have even downgraded from 14.1.2.1 to 13.1.3 to solve one the reported "vCMP" BUGs, but again without any success!

Hello Parham.
First, use vconsole command to access vcmp guests and try to figure out why mgmt communication is not running properly.
REF - https://support.f5.com/csp/article/K15372
After doing that, you can check several things
- logs
- important daemons crashing
- routing communication in the mgmt interface
Please, after checking that, let us know what you discover.
BTW, There are many bugs related with VCMP which are critical, I recommend you to check bug tracker

Hello Dario,
Many thanks for you answer.
I checked Bug Tracker before, but no related bug has been found.
But about using "vConsole", I agree with you. So let me check it and update this post sooner...

Dear all,
I want to update my recent findings:
I tried "vConsole" to have connection from Host to one of the Guests. But after that, when I checked the Logs, I faced that "Guest is not able to read storage", as a result, there wasn't any running TMOS for Guest-layer.
Based on Bug Tracker, I noticed that F5 had solved the issue on 13.1.3, but when I booted with 13.1.3, the issue was remained and Guests could not run properly.

Anybody has other idea?
I think we need to wait for one Hotfix to solve it!

Hello Parham.
Actually, this issue affects the master key of the device which should affect only when the system loads the config, not the release. I had this issue before and in my case I could access the guest without problem.
Anyway, there exists a fix for this. You should open a support case and ask them.
BTW, if my answer was helpful I would appreciate if you mark my answer as the best or give me upvotes.
KR,
Dario.

Hello Dario,
Thanks for your feedback.
OK, I'd better open a ticket sooner or wait for a hotfix to sove it.
BR,
Parham
i wouldnt wait at all, things like this always open a ticket with F5 support, that is what they are there for, let them investigate and tell you the cause.
