Is it possible to perform in-place license upgrade from 200mpbs to 1gbps on 11.3 VE LTM

Hello,

 

Just like the titles says I am trying to determine if

 

1 : Can I upgrade my existing 11.3 LTM VE instances from 200mbps to 1gbps without having to re-deploy the entire VM (I know newer versions are available but code-locked to 11.3 for other reasons).

 

2 : Will the fact that my new license is from a different sku make a difference.

 

I have several 11.3 VE LTM instances in the field running with 200mbps licenses from 2014. I've recently acquired 1gbps licenses with sku : F5-BIG-LTM-VE-1G-V13. I've read what licensing info I could find but could not locate any existing process for replacing or upgrading an existing license for a production VE instance.

    So just in case anyone needs to know the answer to this question.

     

    The answer here is no.

     

    You cannot apply the registration key from any of the skus listed in sol15550 to any VE LTM version below 11.4.1.

     

    You can upgrade from 11.3 to 11.4.1 and then apply the license key but this of course requires downtime on the device and disruption to service if you are not running in HA. You would be better off upgrading the instance to 11.5.3 HF X and then apply the new license. (And if you are moving from 11.3 to 11.4 or above read : sol14409).

    Hello,

    I have currently version v13.1.3 (Build 0.0.6) with 200 Mbps.

    Do you know if I need a re-deployment for upgrading to 1Gig?
