How to upgrade F5 version
The version of the F5 device is BIG-IP 10.2.4 Build 591.0 Hotfix HF2. How to upgrade to the latest version. Please help with the detailed steps
- SnlCirrostratus
Hi
we have done the upgrade ( F5-3600) from 10.2.4 HF13 to 11.6.1 HF1 version with few changes in config mainly related http profile & asm related configs , it will be direct upgrade.
i would suggest apply latest hotfix in 10.2.4 train then proceed for direct upgrade to 11.6.1 hf2 , if you have ha setup , upgrade the standby box first and switch the services and monitor for 1 days then upgrade the other box
the procedure for upgrade will remain same , activate the license before upgrade.
Good Luck

Please find the steps to upgrade HA setup below: -
- Take qkview of both devices.
- Download the version you want to upgrade to along with MD5 file from
- Upload the version on both unit via GUI or via CLI(/shared/mages)
- Match the MD5 from CLI (run md5sum) if value matches with the file then you are good to go.
- Install the ISO to one of the available disk (HD1.1/HD1.2/HD1.3/etc).
- Make the standby device in "force-offline" mode
- Post installation reactivate the license, once you get configuration verified then you can reboot the box into another HD.
- Reboot the box with new HD and don't forgot to import the configuration from existing HD.
- Once rebooted, verify the configuration, post successful verfication remove the force-offline mode. Device should be in standby mode with SYNC-FAILED.
- Login to Active unit and make it standby and newly upgraded unit should be Active.
- Repeat steps 7-9.
