Oct 22, 2015A .cer file is usually just a certificate. If you look inside the file with a text editor you'll probably see this:
----- BEGIN CERTIFICATE -----
... a bunch of base64-encoded
certificate data ...
----- END CERTIFICATE -----
A private key will (usually) look like this:
----- BEGIN PRIVATE KEY -----
... a bunch of base64-encoded
private key data ...
----- END PRIVATE KEY -----
If you just see the certificate data, then you'd import that to the BIG-IP as a certificate.
