How many virtual servers can be applied to a single ASM policy?
Is there a limit to the number of Virtual Servers that can be applied to a single ASM policy? We have started using iRules to direct the traffic to different pools in order to save on VIP addresses. In order to assign different policies to the different apps in these iRules, I will need to enable the specific ASM policy in the iRule also. In order to do this, I need to first apply some policy to the virtual server first. The thought was to have some kind of default ASM policy that we apply to several or all virtual servers as the default one and then switch to the correct ASM policy in the iRule where it identifies the app and pool. I need to verify how many virtual servers are allow to be assigned to a single ASM policy first so we know what limitations we may run into. I have searched documentation and have not been able to find an answer yet. Any ideas on this?
There aren't any real limits on how many VIPs you can apply a policy to.
Eventually, you can start to max out system resources etc. but that depends on the amount of traffic you have.
Hope that helps! If it does please up-vote and select this answer, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Also, if you're running version 11.4 or later, you associate one or more ASM policies with a virtual server via a Local Traffic Policy. It can be a bit more complicated to implement, but is much more efficient than the equivalent iRule.
