Help with email alerts from BIG-IP

I have followed SOL13180 and have configured my device to send email alerts. Now I'm following SOL3667 and am editing the alert.conf file. I have modified the following entry to send email when the unit goes standby:

alert BIG_SOD_SODERR_SOD_STANDBY { snmptrap OID=".1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.4.0.14"; email toaddress="me@domain.com" fromaddress="root@mydomain.com" body="text" lcdwarn description="Unit going standby." priority="5" }

When I place the unit in standby I don't get the email.
