Jan 14, 2015Has any one has deploy LTM with Lotus Domino using port 1352, NOT inotes?
I am trying to balance a couple of Domino servers on 1352 port, obviously the real problem is how to tell the notes clients that the ip ( the LTM vip ) will response to both domino servers

Jan 15, 2015Yeap yesteday i saw that, this is the issue. Take a discussion NSF for example, if you put that DB into 2 Domino servers and shutdown one of them, the Notes clients will "fetch" for the domino server and not the f5 virtual server, i mean the F5 is not actually balancing the request

I'm not sure if putting a load balancer in front of Domino servers over port 1352 would ever work. If the Domino servers are clustered then it's not required as you can set load balancing/failover as part of your Domino cluster config. Bear in mind that when Domino servers are clustered, data between them is sync'ed automatically (Domino Cluster Replication) in real time so any databases they have in common should be the same at all times. If your Domino servers are not clustered, Domino Replication (which sync's data) is scheduled so if a user is suddenly redirected to a different Domino server, chances are their data will be out of whack and if they start working on the failover copy, this may cause data integrity issues when the data replicates again. I'm also unsure how the Notes Client will react to this scenario.
