Hard Drive failures

Recently we have had issues with Hard drive failures on a few 6900 devices. I was just curious if anyone else is experiencing similar issues and what you were doing to monitor and alert for those failures.

I am able to pick up some of the errors in syslog but am not sure if all of the errors are hitting my syslog.

Thanks

  • Team,

    I have received the below Syslog on one of my 6900 Box which is running BIGIP-10.2.1.297.0.iso.

    Syslog:

    =======

    local/bigip1 alert kernel: raid1: Disk failure on dm-36, disabling device.

    =======

    Now the RAID Status is showing us Degraded. Could someone help me in explaining the criticality of this log and the Remedy for the same.

    Thanks in advance.

  • I'm in the same boat. All my 6900's are just past 3 years old and they are all dying. I've had 3 complete units replaced so far. Many hard drives
