Failover based on layer 1
I am looking for a way to monitor and failover based on layer 1/interface availability. Essentially, if a switch port dies or a cable is disconnected, fail over. I found an old article to do this in 9.x that has a dead link to a script. We're on a new 11.4 redundant pair. That said, is there definitive docs on this? Best practice guide?

Just a thought here, but I'm assuming you're talking about a system-level script that periodically polls interface status? 'tmsh list net interface', or something like that? Otherwise, the management-level options would all be layer 3 or above. For example, you could set a VLAN failsafe to monitor connectivity to a specific VLAN. If you're truly worried about providing interface redundancy, I would look at trunking the interfaces.
