Facing Packet drops while Ping Self Ip

We have 2 Interface configured in LTM BIG-IP 6400( 10.2 Version) one is internal lets say Self Ip 192.168.10.12/23 and other is external Self ip 1.1.1.12/23 for the both segment L3 Gateway is F5 LTM, for the segment 1.1.1.12/23 Segment SVI 204 created in cisco 6500 HSRP IP 1.1.1.14/23 and we have L2 vlan created for the 192.168.10.X segment as 201.we have server hosted on ip 192.168.10.18 is natted to 1.1.1.18. While we ping gateway from server 192.168.10.12 we are not getting any packet drops vice versa in LTM when we ping the server 192.168.10.18 we are not getting packet drops. But while we ping the Nat ip add of the server 1.1.1.18 from the core switch 6500 we are getting 2 percent packet drops and also when we ping the Self ip of LTM 1.1.1.12 from core switch we are getting packet drops. for additional information when we ping from LTM to core switch gateway 1.1.1.14 we not getting any packet drops.

Netflow.

  1. Core switch---> Firewall-->ISP Switch----> LTM

Test Performed.

  1. Ping for Self ip 1.1.1.12 from ISP switch which is directly connected to LTM no packet loss.
  2. Packet drops 2% when ping from firewall to LTM self Ip address 1.1.1.12 and Server NAT IP 1.1.118.
  3. Packet loss when ping from core switch for the self ip 1.1.12 and Server NAT ip 1.1.1.18.

Note: 192.168.10.12/23 segment Vlan is switch is L2 its Routed to LTM. So we cant perform the Ping test.

  • K10179 - This usually occurs with packet filters in place.

    K10191 - Use this for troubleshooting.

    Have you checked basic network configuration like speed/duplex and network path between the 2 devices ?
