F5 wont boot after adding HF on 11.4.1
Hi Forum,
I just added a HF to a box running 11.4.1, once I rebooted it and now I cant get it. The console does not work and the front screen is stuck "F5 networks incorporated". When I connect the console it is just random chars like the baud rate is wrong. I have tried other band rates and nothing lets me red the console.
I created a boot USB stick, but when I boot from that, I cant read the console and it is still stuck on the front screen.
Any ideas what could have gone wrong

Hi GreeceMonkey Same issue. How did you fix it?

Hi Fawkes, There was a few suggestions from F5, but in the end it was returned to F5. I think given time I could have resolved it, but we had time issues so it was returned. The issues is a an issue where the AOM settings are not in sync with the rest of the F5 F5 recommended to turn off the box for 10 mins and then turn it on again, it was a quick response, so I guessed they had seen it before, but in my case it made no differance and did not resolve it Give it a try, turn it off for 10 mins and then see if it will boot after that. What does you front screen say, mine just said "F5 incorporated" and never went past that. Let me know how you get on, as I still have to do this on another box, but have avoided it after this issue Graham

Where platform were you on? And which HF did you install? This does sound scary for what's meant to be a simple operation.

It was on a 4000.
It was on 11.2.1 and I created loaded all the new TMOS into an empty partition. So I had a new partition with 11.4.1 and installed HF 647. When I rebooted into the new partition it never came back, I could not SSL or SSH to the box. The front screen just was stuck on "F5 Networks incorporated" and never got any further.
The console was working, but only for AOM, but this did not help. I tried a lot of things but in the end it was an RMA
F5 support said to leave it switched off for 10 mins and then switch it back on, this did not recover the box either.

So this was really an upgrade from v11.2.1 to v11.4.1, a major operation. I would apply an HF release in a separate operation after upgrading to a major release is completed successfully.
The downside of an RMA is that you don't get to know the root cause of the problem.

Hi, I have a similar problem but this is a LTM 8600 and this problem was to upgrade from version 11.4.1 to version 11.6.0. Do not have the solution ?.
Thank.

If the problem it's the console baud rate, to change the baud rate you should press ESC + Shift + 8 or ESC + Shift + 9 (depends of the keyboard layout) and then, a menu will appear and you should choose "Set console baud rate". Here you can find/see the different menus at the AOM ("Always-On Management") Command Menu: https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/14000/500/sol14594.html
