F5 in transparent mode drawbacks

Hello,

please I cant find some relevant information about caveats or drawbacks of deploying F5 in transparent mode via VLAN groups. What is unsupported in this case? Perhaps any link?

Is VLAN group suitable for classic L3 load balancing? In guide:  VLAN groups are intended for load balancing traffic in a Layer 2 network.

Well i think that this transparent mode is useless, I am just trying to find why would I ever use it.
