F5 GTM Resolution
Hey,
We have a WIP configured with only one pool (with 4 IP's) and both alternate and fallback methods set to NONE. For some reason if that single pool goes unavailable then the GTM will resolve the aggregate all the 4 IP's ?
Thanks,
Das

Hi,
In short, GTM will respond that queries when you keep DNS profile, that is attached to listener, with default values:
"Use BIND Server on BIG-IP" as "Enabled"
"Unhandled Query Actions as "Allow".
I hope it helps.

But it was still resolving even when the BIND Server is disabled ( DNS Express is enabled though) and Unhandled Query actions is set to allow. Is this something expected behavior ?

None - BIG-IP GTM distributes DNS name resolution requests skipping either the next available pool in a multiple pool configuration or the current load balancing method. If all pools are unavailable, BIG-IP GTM returns an aggregate of the IP addresses of all the virtual servers in the pool using BIND.
