F5 Deployment Locations

I am tasked with deploying a couple of 3400s with Checkpoint firewalls. We only have one pair of load balancers.

 

I am stuggling with the correct placement of the devices. I have web and application servers and my current plan is to load balance the web servers with the f5s and the web servers in the same firewall zone. Probably using npath routing for the traffic flow internally, thus allowing the web servers to talk to the application servers through the firewall.

 

 

Can someone shed some light on potential deployment scenarios?

    This forum is geared towards 9.x iRule related questions. I believe there might be plans for adding a 9.x general support forum.

     

     

    For now, I'd suggest you review the materials available on AskF5 .com or www.f5.com about deploying BIG-IP with Checkpoint firewalls. Try searching for "checkpoint" or "deployment guide firewall".

     

     

    Much of the documentation I could find was for BIG-IP 4.x, but I think the concepts should be similar for 9.x.

     

     

    If you want additional help from F5, you can contact an F5 salesperson who can probably put you in contact with the appropriate technical person Click here.

     

     

    For non-F5 related leads, you might post to some of the load balancing mailing lists like vegan.net.
