Nov 03, 2009Domain Redirection with the GTM
I have a F5 GTM that I would like to do some Domain Redirection with and I wanted to know if there is away to do this via the user interface or If I will need to write a iRule. I tried to attached a diagram of what I'm trying to accomplish but I can't get it below the 100kb. But I will try to sum it up.
I have a internal web server that is replicating content to another server that is on the internet. I want my internal users to be sent to the internal webserver (xyz.mycompany.com) in normal operation. If the internal server is down then I want the GTM to send a redirect to www.xyz.com and the user will go out to the internet to get the content.
Note - I can't point the GTM to the IP address of the external webserver because it's being GSLB also so I never know what IP address it's going to be.
Is this possible?
Thanks for you help!

GTM only provides a response to a dns query. I think what you want to set is the fallback host on the HTTP profile of your LTM. This will redirect your internal clients to your fallback host--in this case, www.xyz.com--if your internal xyz.mycompany.com virtual has no available resources.
