can we install Hotfix in advance and later activate partition?

I am trying to minimize downtime windows to install hotfix. Can i install hotfix iso on volume in advance and later activate partition.

Just trying to understand there is not impact on F5 when installation run. 

(tmos) install sys software hotfix Hotfix-BIGIP-11.6.0.6.0.442-HF6.iso volume HD1.1

    That is correct. No impact until you boot the unit into that partition.
