Can I run platform Diagnostic without impacting system services

You can run this test when the F5 is processing traffic, but not all tests are executed. If you want a full check, you need to stop the services.

 

Article https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_ltm/manuals/product/f5-plat-diagnostics/2.html gives some more information. The tool is used for checking hardware so you can see if you need to run the EUD for more details.

 

The articles mentions nothing on performance impact when running the test. But if you do not want to take any risk, run it in a service window.

Also, this doc says that

 

/var/log/platform_check ------> Does not require stopping of system daemons

 

/var/log/platform_diag ------> Requires stopping of sys daemons using Bigstart stop

 

But, for safer side I will run only if I have maintenance window.
