Feb 20, 2008Cacti template for GTM
Here's my first crack at a template for GTM (included in the archive is also the LTM template). Note that you will need to have at least 0.8.7a installed to import the templates.
You'll notice that the global DNS graphs are line based and the wideIP graphs are stacked. There's no reason, I just haven't decided which I like better, so if you want to make them consistent this is done in the graph template.

Doh, didn't see the page 2 and thought my earlier post didn't make it. Also, I guess I don't need to re-post on the spreadsheet as somebody beat me to it. - Hamish_Marson_3

Thanks. I updated to 0.8.7 (Using CactiEZ 0.4) and the graphs are all working now.
To answer a previous question about the DNS rates being graphed as 0.2 and 0.3/second. That's an artifact of the averaging. The default RRD's are set to take an average hit rate per second over a 5 minute period. So unless you're hitting the DNS server with at least 300 queries, you'll get an average of < 1.0.
You can alter the RRD settings in the data templates if you like... However you may been to alter the polling, and I'm not sure how you'd get it down to 60 seconds as the poller only runs once a minute anyway in cacti, so you'll wind up with missing data (Trying to poll at the same rate as your aggregation in rrd's always ends up missing data. I like to poll at about 2-3x the rate of the aggregate time).
Those templates look good BTW... I'm going to see if I can come up with some combined graphs. e.g. graphing connection rate and total connections on the same graph, separating out SSL hit rates by version and SSL hit rates by VS... - JRahm

I created a graph to combine the GTMs wideIPs into one so I could see how many requests the GTM solution was handling. To make one of these, click Graph Management, select the graphs you want to aggregate, then select Create Aggregate Graph from the drop down at the bottom of the page. - Hamish_Marson_3

Here's three new graph templates for F5...
Global SSL Details (Has SSL Versions and connections plus rates)
Global Compression Stats (Pre vs Post compressed)
Global Compression Details (Pre vs Post compressed by content type)
Again, rename by taking the .txt off the end of the filename... - JRahm

Thanks for the contribution. I don't yet have my new server up, but I'll take a look when I get a chance and add them to the host template. - Hamish

No worries.
While i"m here does anyone know how to define a graph item in a cacti template so that it JUST defines a data source & doesn't attempt to draw it? I want to load raw values, calculate %'ags and graph the results of the CDEF... But cacti appears to be fighting me tooth & nail (Or I'm just blind).

OK... The answer appears to be to define it as a NULL comment... And the order you CREATE them is very important... You can't go back & change things, because it appears not to work very well. You also can't seem to add DS's on the fly... Not particularly intuitive to me at the moment... But t's getting there...
Now...
Does anyone know where you define the OID for an SNMP query (indexed)....
(Sorry... Thinking out loud here. Maybe I'll solve it before anyone gets a chance to read this... or maybe not... - JRahm

For the indexed queries the OIDs are defined in an XML. The path for the vs query xml file should be shown in the data query object. I'll get my server running this week so I'm more helpful. I don't know the system well enough to navigate blind yet. - Hamish

Cheers for that. I'll try & get the Host CPU stats working now to add to my CPU & memory graph %'ages... - JRahm

Stephan,
I started some how-to tech tips on Cacti. I have one on regular oids up now: Click here
I have another one on indexed oids coming up next week.
