BigIP-VE BYOL in AWS Http -> Https Redirect via Elastic IP

BigIP-VE 13.0 HF3 Multi-Nic

 

I am currently trying to POC something in AWS that their load balancing solutions can't accommodate. One thing i am having an issue with is the ability to do an HTTP to HTTPs redirect via Elastic IP.

 

Topology:

 

Elastic IP -> Private Vip IP on F5 Interface -> Snat -> EC2 Instance

 

Issue:

 

does not redirect to

 

What Does Work:

 

DOES redirect to

 

Tried:

 

I have tried the built in redirect rule i have also tried a redirect irule redirects to the FQDN that is pointed at the elastic ip.

 

I believe this has something to do with the fact that Elastic IP is really a one to one nat to that private IP that lives on the F5.
