Jul 22, 2013BigIP 2000 (D45) - Maximum Software Version
Hello,
Recently a friend of mine gave a BIGIP 2000 (D45). It´s funcional and running v45 software. I want to know what is the maximum version I can put on it. Tried to put v 9.4.8 and it says it is not supported.
Thanks,
Carlos Covolo

Hey, I remember that model! So was this a good friend?? ;)
It took a while to find this, but I located two relevant documents:
sol4309: The F5 platform life cycle support policy
https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/4000/300/sol4309.html
** All support for the 2000 platform ended in 2008.
sol7601: End of Support Contract Renewal for the BIG-IP 2000 and BIG-IP 5000 hardware platforms
https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/7000/600/sol7601.html
** Which alludes that 4.5 is the absolute latest version supported on this platform. - CCVLo

Thanks ! Do you know what is the hardware differences between BigIP 1000 (D39) and BigIP 2000 (D45) ? 9.x is supported on D39 platform but not on D45, I haven´t seen both from the inside, but they appear to be pretty similar (except the number of Network Interfaces). Trying to do a remote install patching "halid" output , which detects the platform and telling it to say D39 instead of D45. The memory modules appear to be not OK and sometimes kernel panics. Still trying.
Mine has a huge F5 branded board with FPGAs, PLDs, NIC controllers and a broadcom SSL accelerator with PN PCA-0014-01 REV A . I someone has a picture from a D39 board and could share I appreciate.
Thanks,

You should read the release notes on a particular version before you attempt to install it. I do recall running ver 9.2.5 on that unit but I think 9.4 and above isn't supported due to the CF card being so small. It's been a while so my memory be a little off. - CCVLo

Thank you all . I´ve replace the CF to 1GB and will try to install 9.2.5 .
