Big IP LTM trial version
Hi Team,
I am just trying to run big IP LTM virtual edition 110.1.0.3341.1084 on Vmware ESXi 5. All the configuration is done and when i try to access the application I am facing damm slowness and not sure why it so.
As per the documentation its saying big Ip ltm Ve edition 10.1.0.3341.1084. is supported on Vmware ESX 4 and not on 5. is that the reason for this issue?
Also I am not able to download any other version higher than 10.2.2 which is supported on ESXI 5, since it permitting me to Generate the trial version.
Please help me on this. This is really critical.
Waiting for an update.
Regards
Aknair

slowness is still there afer enabling SNAT automap.
a) is this any network configuration issue exist?
b) Will it ok to run VE10.1.0 on Vmware ESX 5.1, support matrix saying this is compatible only on Vmware ESX 4 and vmware work station 7, is that is the reason?
c) currently only one IP range am using, I configured only internal IP and not any external, does it make any issue. if i click self ip only one IP internal is showing.
excuse me if am wrong on this. - What_Lies_Bene1

OK, worth a shot. So, is it slow or does it simply not work after the user authenticates? Have you tried a tcpdump? - Akhilesh_128432

Steve,
After the authentication it will work. but it will take a long tie to load the final page. - What_Lies_Bene1

OK, a few suggestions;
1) Apply the default HTTP and HTTP compression profiles to the VS (it's configured as a standard VS right?)
2) Apply the lan_optimized... (can't remember the full name) protocol profiles to the VS, client and server side
3) If 1) and 2) don't help, run a tcpdump to see if there are any issues: tcpdump -i any -nn -vv -s0 -X host 10.80.97.44 or host 10.80.97.221
4) If you want to analyse the capture in Wireshark or something similar, use this instead and pull the file off the device using SCP: tcpdump -i any -nn -vv -s0 -w /var/tmp/testdump.cap host 10.80.97.44 or host 10.80.97.221 - Akhilesh_128432

Thanks , I am going to test those things.
before that, can you please share some on info on self ips.
a) is it mandatory to have external network?
b) which is the default log file to see the VIP traffic. - What_Lies_Bene1

Sure;
a) No, you can use a single interface for client and server traffic but SNAT is necessary in this configuration
b) Statistics can be found in the GUI via Statistics > Dashboard (for realtime) and Statistics > Module Statistics > Local Traffic for historical accumulative stats and graphs
FYI: Log files are stored in /var/log and can be viewed in the GUI via System > Logs - Akhilesh_128432

I'd email or call an F5 or partner SE to get an eval key for VE. This will allow you to run a current version of BIG-IP VE. There have been many fixes and new features added to BIG-IP since 10.1 was released.

Thats should be really helpful.
Right Now i am using 10.1.0.3341.1084 which is too old. The trial license is available only for this version.
I could see lot of other latest version like 10.2.4, 11 etc on F5 website but unfortunately the trial is license is not available for those version
Could you please help to get one evaluation license for latest version so that I can test my application. if it all goes fine we are really interested to buy the commercial license - hoolio

You can contact an F5 or partner SE via the link above and ask them for a free evaluation key for BIG-IP VE. You'll then be able to download any current version from downloads.f5.com and test it.
