Big-IP 4100 - ASM => {ASM+LTM}

Hi,

 

 

Do you know how to add load-balancing features to a (standalone) Big-IP 4100 Platform licensed only for ASM ?

 

 

How to make an upgrade ?

 

 

Shall I install the LTM software on top of the ASM software ?

    Hi Vincent,

     

    Unfortunately, It is not possible to load balance on an ASM standalone or to upgrade a 4100 standalone to an LTM+ASM combo.

    This combo of LTM+ASM is only available on the 3600, 3900, 6400, 6800, 6900, 8800, 8900 and VIPRION platforms

    My goal is to provide HA (high availability) on 2 web servers. One server is the slave, the other is the master. Requests are sent to the slave when the master is down.

     

     

    How to get this behavior with my platform (Big-IP 4100, ASM only) ?

     

     

    Is it really necessary for this to have a load-balancing license ?
