APM sharepoint portal access

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to deploy APM for various internal web apps. Most applications work however sharepoint access (which is the main concern) doesn't work. I'm almost sure this is due to the authentication scheme. We want to avoid using network access as we want IP connectivity to be limited. We would like to use Portal access but I haven't been able to deploy a portal access that supports NTLM authentication on behalf of the client. There is a guide devcentral to deploy Sharepoint with BIG-IP but this requires the use of a virtual server (https://devcentral.f5.com/articles/leveraging-big-ip-apm-for-seamless-client-ntlm-authentication.U17ATVWnTTQ). Is it possible to just use portal access to F5 can authenticate on behalf of the client?

  • You will need to create a virtual server for SharePoint if you want to use Portal access because it will require you applying the rewrite profile for it to work. Check out the following guide BIG-IP® Access Policy Manager® Portal Access Guide

  • I understand perfectly that a virtual server is required to assign a rewrite profile and an access profile.

My question is if there is a way for APM to perform NTLM authentication on behalf of the client without requiring a separate virtual server other than the one used to assign the access-profile/rewrite profile.

  • Grayson, do you mind posting your solution. I would love to see how you got it working, cheers!
