Another ISP on GTM

I have 2 GTM's between two datacenters working fine loadbalancing DNS for our front web platforms between datacenters in active/standby mode all working fine. Now we need to bring in a new web platform on to the GTM's on new address space and possibly new ISP. so have multiple ISP's with different address space on same GTM box. is is recommded? or should i get another set of GTM's for new platform?

  • if you wanted to add another GTM it's really for redundancy, balancing DNS request loads or provide another set of configurations that need seperate instances, or simply no routing between the other 2 GTMs. I do not see that it's necessary in your situation, unless it's one of them items I mention.

I hope this helps you make the right decission.

You can host any combination of names in any combination of address space in the same GTM configuration, the same as you can with any other DNS server. The trick there will be getting good monitoring in place so GTM is handing out a known-good address no matter where the webserver lives. The best monitoring would be performed by a local LTM reporting results to GTM, but there are other monitoring options by which GTM can determine the health of the service.
