Active/Standby GTM

There is no active/standby in the GTM/DNS configuration. GTM/DNS is always standalone and active. Your LTM can been in active/standby, that will work fine. If you are using LTM and GTM/DNS in the same unit, the same still applies besides the unit showing as been in an HA pair. You have to split your problem in GTM and LTM.

 

Basically, for your requirements, you configure a GTM wide ip and pool. The pool will have both virtual servers, and you can use global availability for load balancing method. GTM/DNS will always reply with the IP for the first virtual server in the list. When the first virtual servers is down, it will start to reply with the IP of the second virtual server in the list.
