Traditionally, building new servers was a manual process. A system administrator had a run book with all the steps required and would perform each task one by one. If the admin had multiple servers to build the same steps were repeated over and over. All public cloud compute platforms provide an automation tool called cloud-init that makes it easy to automate configuration tasks while a new VM instance is being launched. In this article, you will learn how to automate the process of building out a new NGINX Plus server usingcloud-init.537Views3likes4CommentsBigIP v14 single volume - adding a volume
I have previously updated software on LTMs. However, the virtual F5 i am working on now only has one disk volume. Is there a different method to install software on a single volume system? if not, how would i add a new volume? In the web interface, i see no options under software volumes or disk volumes to add a new one.671Views0likes3CommentsInstall status audited on boot location where I try to install new software
Hi, I'm trying to install 16.1.3.1 over a Boot Location where 13.1.3.6 was some time ago (I do have 3 boot locations over all). Once the image gets tested it does not install as it should but instead the old software version goes into "Audited" status with not progress whatsoever. This lasts indefinetly (or at least it did not change after several hours today...). I'm upgrading from 16.1.2.2 to 16.1.3.1 I rebooted the box, It went back to normal but once I tried to install new soft again it once more gets stuck in audited. Also - it seems that the device makes a local copy of the image as I'm quite sure I deleted the local copy of 13.1.3.6 from the device before I reattempted the installation. (see screenshot). No entries are appearing in the liveinstall.log and when I do show sys software it does show the audited status: -------------------------------------------------------------------- Sys::Software Status Volume Product Version Build Active Status Allowed Version -------------------------------------------------------------------- HD1.1 BIG-IP 13.1.3.6 0.0.4 no audited yes HD1.2 BIG-IP 14.1.4.4 0.0.4 no complete yes HD1.3 BIG-IP 16.1.2.2 0.0.28 yes complete yes This happens on a VCMP guest. The host is currently running 16.1.3.1 Another attempt at install is not possible unless I reboot the device. Any ideas?Solved2.1KViews0likes4CommentsImage installation status audited
Hello there, I'm upgrading a Viprion's guest and during the installation of the ISO on the new volume I'm facing this situation: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Sys::Software Status Volume Slot Product Version Build Active Status ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HD1.1 1 BIG-IP 14.1.4.4 0.0.4no installing 77.000 pct HD1.2 1 BIG-IP 14.1.4 0.0.11yes audited I never saw before the installation status "Audited". Hi, I've been searching the portals and forums but can't find a definitive answer. I need an ISO to install Big IP APM appliance on Hetzner Cloud, does this exist? Can somebody point me to the correct download link? All I've been finding sounded like update ISOs, not suitable for an installation from scratch. I am a contractor and my client has instructed me to install the BigIP Edge client to connect to their VPN (BIGIPEdgeClient-7132.exe). I have attempted to install it on my laptop three times. The first by double-clicking the exe file and the last two by right-clicking and installing as Administrator (I do have admin rights to my laptop). In all three cases, the installation runs for a minute or two, giving progress text like "Installing ActiveX control" and eventually appears to complete successfully, then prompts me to restart my computer to complete installation. I do. But after the restart, there is no evidence that the software has been installed. No desktop icon, no entry in the start menu, no entry in Add/Remove programs. I am not new to VPN software at all, but new to BigIP. What could the issue be?663Views0likes0CommentsLab installation VE F5
Hi, I was wondering how the installation would react if i would install a stand alone virtual edition of F5 with 3 nics instead of 4, because i don't really need a HA interface. Or is just desired to have 4 VMXnet nics with just a HA enabled 1 with just 1 device in it? Because with that last would it be a extra configuration on switch / vmware level. Any suggestion whether to choose for 3 or 4 nics? kind regards297Views0likes1CommentBIG IP Beginner / Documentation
I have been tasked with the installation and configuration of several F5 devices in order to implement AAM within our network architecture. I am quite new to F5, but I do have a general understanding of how both LTM and AAM work. The issue that I am running into is the documentation, or what seems to be the lack of. I have 2 F5 training manuals that do not complete a clear picture for the network setup. One is for version 11.2.0 and the other is 11.6. The training manuals were provided for a training session with an instructor from BIG IP and some servers. Unfortunately I do not have access to either. The manuals only give half the details to properly to implement the device within my network. I am looking for some examples, including a network diagram, so I can get a better understanding on how I can make this work in my network. Would be great if there were some deployment examples for inline and a one-arm configuration.275Views0likes2CommentsIncomplete install causing boot issues
