Hi Guys, Currently, we are planning to install F5 VIPRION 4480N along with one Blade 4300 type. Because of limited number of source power, we are planning to use 2 power supplies per-chassis. Power supply 1 and 4. Today, we powered-up this VIPRION on our lab. And found out that the power supply alarm and led keep blinking though we had cleared it several time before. The system displayed below log continously: Jun 9 03:40:02 slot1/localhost emerg system_check[11423]: 010d0006:0: Chassis power supply 2 has experienced an issue. Status is as follows: STATUS=bad. Jun 9 03:40:02 slot1/localhost emerg system_check[11423]: 010d0006:0: Chassis power supply 3 has experienced an issue. Status is as follows: STATUS=bad my question: 1. Is it okay to use only 2 power supplies only out of total 4? 2. Is there any way to disable this alarm? Thank you for any input306Views0likes4CommentsBlade assign incorrectly interfaces to VCMP
I'm setting up two viprions, and when performing connectivity tests, the computer that will be the standby is not responding, a trunk for port 7 and 8 was configured with lacp active in both Viprion host, when we check the interfaces in the vguest, on the first computer the Ports are inherited from the host, but on the second computer are different interfaces 5 and 6 (on the host are 7 and 8), is it possible to change the interfaces that the host assigns to vcmp? Or is there any way to correct the interfaces? I try to modify the host interfaces in vguest but they appear as pending455Views0likes2CommentsRenaming VLANs on a Viprion chassis and vCMP Guests
I'm in the unenviable position of having to rename a dozen+ VLANs on a Vipreon chassis and vCMP guests. The reason stems from having to combine guests from 2 pairs of chassis where one pair is being decommissioned. Unfortunately the original admin who set up the chassis did not use the same VLAN naming convention for both sets of chassis, and the same VLAN tags exist in both places. This results in guests that are brought over from the old chassis not being able to access the network as the VLAN names do not match up. The destination is 2 chassis where the LTMs are in an active-standby pair with the members of the pair being split between the 2 chassis. (Same situation on the chassis I'm migrating from.) Can I get a sanity check on what I'd like to do here? Force the guests offline on the secondary chassis. Shut down the guests. Rename the VLANs on the Vipreon by editing bigip.conf and bigip_base.conf load sys config verify load sys config (or just reboot the chassis to be thorough) Bring up one guest offline, repeat the same procedure on the guest. Failover during a maintenance window and test. Repeat for other guests. If everything works there, repeat the same procedure on the primary chassis. Resync the configs once all changes are made and tested. At this point the guests that are migrated over should be able to access the newly renamed VLANs as well. Am I missing anything here?584Views0likes2Comments/var/lib/mysql @ 100%
Attached is the screenshot of my df -h I noticed that my /var/lib/mysql is @ 100% could somebody please help me fix this issue. I issued this command "find /var/lib/mysql -xdev -type f -exec du {} \; | sort -rn | head -20" and here is the output: Your immediate response would be greatly appreciated.Solved825Views0likes3CommentsF5 Viprion question
We have 16 LTM which include 1600, 2000 and 4500 but now demand is rising and i need to buy more F5 so i am thinking about Viprion but i have no experience on them so have some question. If i plan to buy Viprion chassis does that means i should buy two chassis or just single chassis with multiple blade? Related networking question does all blade should connect to switch as trunk? or just primary slot? How does SSL TPS license work? is it based on chassis or license per blade? I am not seeing on internet people talking about viprion or any kind of review or experience does that means it's something people try to stay away? because of complexity?276Views0likes6CommentsReplacing blade on Viprion
Hi, Everyone: I have an HA pair of Viprion with old B2100, one in each chassis, I am planning to replace it with B2150. I saw some document, some suggestion to use UCS file, the other suggestion is to use SCF files. any catches I need to be aware? If someone has already done that, and can show the procedure that will be great help. Thanks637Views0likes6CommentsIs it safe to remove Installed Images on the Viprion host?
I am about to upgrade our F5's to 12.1.2 HF1 with an engineering fix (from 12.1.1) and I want to clean up unused images. We have some currently unused vCMPs that run 11.5.3, but they are not powered on. Is it safe to delete Software Volumes that have 11.5.3 and it not impact the vCMPs that use 11.5.3? The Viprion is running 12.1.1 on HD1.4, but has a HD1.1, 1.2, 1.3 with 11.5.3 on them. Thank you298Views0likes2CommentsIs it possible to load UCS from a BIGIP5000 platform to a vCMP guest with same version?
HI Devcentral Peeps, Is it possible to load UCS from a BIGIP5000 platform to a vCMP guest with same version? This is what i planned to do, create the VLANs on host level, create the vcmp guest with the same hostname and restore the UCS from bigip appliance going to that vCMP guest. Thanks!235Views0likes1CommentViprion session mirroring
Dear All, I am working on a Viprion implementation, which is two chassis C2400 both of them with one B2150 blade installed in the same slot 2. There is a cluster configured with one active instance in one blade and the other F5 instance is standby on the other chassis´ s blade. Version 11.6 HF4 is used at this moment (yes I know and do an upgrade to 12.1.2 soon enough to retain the official F5 support so it won’t ran out of technical support issues). At this moment VCMP is not used, nor licensed. Customer requires session mirroring for their long lived session ATM bank transfer agents. I enabled session mirroring on both blades in both chassis and configured session mirroring in the virtual server. I tried both options (mirroring between clusters and within cluster), but none of the sessions are being replicated to both Viprion chassis 2400. I only were able to see the local mirrored sessions but none of them are replicated. The self IP used for mirroring have no port lockdown configured and allows all traffic. The virtual server is configured as performance layer. I read that layer 7 is not supported by F5. At the time of troubleshooting I was not able to see any traffic on port number 1029. So my questions, why does it not replicate the session to the other Viprion platform? Is this setup not supported? Is it only meant to synchronize to redundant blades within one chassis? Is it perhaps required to have redundant blades in both chassis for this technology to work properly? Is session mirroring on layer 7 virtual servers only supported in version 12.1.2? Hope to find someone with some experience on this specific topic. Information I have obtained from the F5 website: https://support.f5.com/content/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_ltm/manuals/product/VIPRION_config_11_0_0/_jcr_content/pdfAttach/download/file.res/viprion_sys_config_guide_v11.pdf Intra-cluster mirroring The VIPRION system mirrors the connections and session persistence records within the cluster, that is, between the blades in the cluster. You can configure intra-cluster mirroring on both single devices and redundant system configurations. It is important to note that F5 does not support intra-cluster mirroring for Layer 7 (non-FastL4) virtual servers. Thanks for your help.305Views0likes1CommentVirtual LTM syncing to Physical Viprion 2400
I'm new to the whole virtual F5 instances running on ESX hosts so please bear with me. I need to get a number of virtual F5's running 11.6 to deploy their configuration on a new Viprion 2400. I've read about the .UCS file that you would load onto the physical device to do this, but why wouldn't it work if you put the virtual into the same device trust domain and try to sync it that way? I read it doesn't work but has anyone tried this and ensured it doesn't work? Does anyone know of a good guide for doing the virtualization to physical besides the one step I read on here? Either way I'd like to know the approach so I can test it out before moving production systems. Thanks!290Views0likes3Comments
