Unable to connect to database from pool member

Hi,

I would like to know what changes would required on F5 for a web segment pool member to initiate connections to database.

I am experiencing random connectivity problem to database. Traffic flow:

1) Internet User -> 1st Layer Firewall -> F5 (VIP) -> Web Server (Pool)

2) Web Server (Pool Member) -> F5 -> 1st Layer Firewall -> 2nd Layer Firewall -> Database and back

The communication against point 2 is giving 'intermittent' oracle connectivity errors. I have configured 'Forwarding IP' on F5 for connections originating from F5.

Also, when I bypass F5 and go directly to second layer firewall from the Web Server (Pool Member), 'No' oracle connectivity errors are noticed. So most probably something to do with F5 and how it handles connections initiated by a pool member.

Please suggest what all configs other than 'Forwarded IP' would be required on F5 to enable point 2 flow.

Thanks.

  • Hi,

    The Protocol Profile (Client) against Forwarding IP VS is 'fastL4'.

    I have configured the 'Idle Timeout' and 'TCP Handshake Timeout' to 'Indefinite' under Local Traffic >> Fast L4 Profiles >> fastL4.

    Still the error occurs.

    Please suggest.

    Thanks.
