F5 LTM traffic flow

Hi experts,

Just wanted to ask. usually I used show sys connection cs-server-addr or cs-client-addr to see if client is able to reach its destination server.

show sys connection output:

client\source ip > VIP > snat IP > pool member

what happened is I get this result.

client\source ip > VIP > snat IP > VIP

2nd and 4th are the same IP address, does any encountered the same situation?

What could be causing this issue?

TIA

  • Hello f5mkuDefault.

What type of VS is the one you are pointing above (https://support.f5.com/csp/article/K55185917)?

Could you check if you have 'translate-address' option disabled in your VS configuration?

    Regards,

    Dario.

      hi Dario,

Enabling the translate address and port fix the problem. But this is strange as we do not touch the advance settings. So not sure how it became disabled.

      Thanks,

  • Hello f5mkuDefault.

    There is no an issue.

This traffic represents pool members probes, for monitoring their status.

    Regards,

    Dario.

I have been using ltm for quite some time...usually when you do show sys connection the last IP address is the pool member...

However for this case the last IP address indicated is the vip address..

Show sys output indicateds like this:

      client 》vip 》snat ip 》vip

Instead of showing it this way:

      client 》vip 》snat ip 》pool member

I dont think it is normal so I wanted to know what could trigger this situation.
