BIG-IQ - Central Management / Cloud + REST API

Two Questions:

1.) Does anyone happen to have information on where the BIG-IQ Central Manager REST API guide is (specific to central management)? The only REST API guides and Python/REST code examples I've seen, appear to be for the BIG-IQ Cloud product. I'm looking to push out based configurations to new LTMs using Central Management as a REST API proxy for LTMs it's managing. I assume that BIP central management offers APIs to do this sort of thing?

2.) If not using NSX or Cisco ACI does BIG-IQ Cloud still have a place in virtual environment orchestration deployments? Meaning if I had a third party process orchestrator (Scorch, HP OO, etc) + a Vmware VCenter environment (no NSX) would BIG-IQ cloud be the tool of choice for spinning up and configuring LTM instances or is BIG-IQ CLoud just for NSX and ACI based environments?

  • The F5 and Cisco APIC integration based on the device package and iWorkflow is End Of Life.

The latest integration is based on the Cisco AppCenter named F5 ACI ServiceCenter

  • 1). At this time, there is no API guide for CM. its publication is planned for a future release. 2). If you are looking to spin up instances using BIG-IQ, NSX and ACI are the two platforms supported today. In other (non NSX and ACI) environments, Cloud can be used deploy applications (via iApps) to existing instances (VE or hardware) of BIG-IP. So, you can manage existing devices and even new devices that are created/provisioned/deployed outside of BIG-IQ Cloud.

Thanks for the info Kyle. One follow-up question. "So, you can manage existing devices and even new devices that are created/provisioned/deployed outside of BIG-IQ Cloud." Is the same functionality to push iApp templates via the REST API (assuming no NSX or ACI) available with central management or is that only an available feature of the cloud version.

Only Cloud pushes iApps at this time, but it can push to devices outside of NSX or ACI using the local connector.
