adding more cores to vCMP guests

Hello,

we need to add more cores to an existing vCMP guest that has lots of VIPs on it. Since adding cores to a vCMP requires moving this vCMP from the "deployed" state to the "config" state, will all these VIPs be wiped out?

Thanks.

  • Hello ,

please take a look at K20081511 for resolving your question, see the section about "Configured" state:

"The vCMP guest is not allocated any hardware resources. However, this does not affect the vCMP guest's existing virtual disk. Its virtual disk continues to reside on the vCMP host while it is in this state. The virtual disk would be reused by the vCMP guest when it moves out of the Configured state."

This means your config won't be affected when moving your vCMP guest to the "Configured" state and later back to the "Deployed" state.
