F5 Distributed Cloud Services to Provide Unified Security Policy for Multi-cloud OpenShift Workloads

In my previous article, we demonstrated how quick and easy it is to use F5 Distributed Cloud Mesh to discover services for Azure and AWS, respectively, and make OpenShift services available in any location, be it Public Clouds, Private Clouds, or the edge. Simply put, a multi-cloud approach offers significant advantages for organizations to build distributed services, and reap the benefits of the Three Cs of Cloud.

Still, with all the advantages to be gained with a multi-cloud approach, enterprises should be aware of the downsides as well. Here are a couple of challenges the multi-cloud adoption presents:

  • First, ensuring that applications are protected, regardless of where they’re deployed becomes an increasing challenge. And for every cloud provider, there are often disparate tool sets that are used to monitor, secure, and manage these applications and workloads, it's difficult to find a solution that is effective at handling all app security demands regardless of where they are deployed
  • Secondly, This has led to a significant increase in attack surface. Failure to modernize your app security approach results in increased risk, as attackers have many more options when it comes to modern apps, not just exposing corrupted app code, but APIs, growing user bases, more exposed infrastructure, and data, etc.

F5 Distributed Cloud Services to enforce unified security policies across the distributed workloads

To address these security challenges, F5 Distributed Cloud WAAP provides a SaaS-based approach to app security that protects each application attack surface, namely WAF, Bot and fraud mitigation, application-based DoS mitigation, and API protection.

As part of  "OpenShift Anywhere with F5 Distributed Cloud" how-to video series, with the video below we will showcase the ease and power of F5 Distributed Cloud to deploy, manage and enforce security policies across distributed workloads for Multi-cloud OpenShift clusters.
