Worst performing web application....

While Joe is a wizard that has done wonders with our configuration, DNN is probably the worst performing off-the-shelf app I've seen (short of CRM, which has its own gremlins). In the hands of people unfamiliar with it, problems can be astounding. A company in one of my hobbies has been struggling with their upgrade to DNN for months and cannot get it to perform.

 

Overall, we had a web app at a place that I worked that accessed 21 different databases on five different DBM platforms. In the end we had to redesign it to consolidate the relevant data in one DB and then run the web app off of that. It cut down on the "real time" nature of the application, but since a response that is five minutes behind is better than no response at all, we thought it was a good trade off.
