Will there be performance impact on traffic, when stats are collected frquently using icontrol
Hi, i am planning to use AppViewX tool to monitor statistics from bigip production boxes. These boxes has got around thousands of vips and servers. If i set the tool to pull statistics for vips say, every 1 minute from bigip using icontrol, then will it affect the real time traffic processing or in other words, performance of traffic ? Say, if the cpu usage is about 70 to 80 % on the stat query, what will be the impact on real time traffic ?

Hello Uma...I never got a chance to use AppViewX but am curious about the end result. Did you try asking the vendor what the impact would be? I would say add 20 - 30 vips and then check to see the usage and increment it gradually. Theoretically the tmm which is responsible for the traffic management is separate from the analytics portion...if you are pegging your CPU at 70% - 80% before stat collection its safe to assume that tmm already took its share of the memory and CPU. (assuming you are not adding any more vips). So the task would be to find out if the remaining 20% - 30% is good enough for stats. Please keep us posted on your findings.
