Mar 04, 2009WideIPs and Bind
Hey all,
I need some advice and possible examples.
Because of the criticality of some of our applications and the fact that we only have one 6400 appliance, I am being asked to configure different entries in BIND than what is configured as a WIP.
Background
-We have two data centers(geographically separate) that are configured as Primary/Standby.
-We have one 6400 in each campus that have both GTM and LTM running.
-GTM is in an Master/Master in a sync group so both WIP and BIND are synchronized.
I want to keep this short but the idea is that if the 6400 were to go down in our primary Data Center, the WIP would fail and BIND would take over. Because BIND has the actual pool member IP addresses, clients would no longer go through the LTM that is down and get round robin DNS.
What i am looking for is reasons why it is NOT a good idea to have BIND configured Different than the WIP.
