What will be the ARP/GARP for wildcard or Network virtual server ?

Hi all, trying to understand how the ARP/GARP will work for the wildcard or network virtual servers w.r.t the MAC addresses ?

Can any one explain.

  • According to this post, network listeners in both LTM and GTM by default do not participate in ARP. For wildcard/network listeners to work and not participate in ARP, the traffic must be routing through the BigIP for the BigIP to process it.

  • When using wildcard/network virtuals, in most cases you will need to have an upstream router or firewall have traffic destined for the wildacrd address room forwarded to a (floating) self IP of the bigIP. So basically, this self IP's ARP/GARP behaviour is relevant for traffic handling concerning the according wildcard/network virtual.
