What is the hostname used for?
The hostname is just the linux hostname, so it it appears in the commandline prompt, in the log files, and would typically be the name that your DNS server knows the device as.
A device-name (which is often set to the same as the hostname) is the name used for device trust, which leads to configsync and failover.
If you follow the setup wizard, you will be prompted for details of the HA vlan. If you're doing it manually, the config-sync and unicast failover addresses are specified under Device Management / Device / (Self) / Device Connectivity
