Hello community,
I have a couple of questions from a partner (I work for a distributor) regarding this lab license: F5-BIG-VE-LAB-V16
In the price list, the description gives us this:
BIG-IP Virtual Edition Lab License (LTM, DNS, AFM, AWF, ASM, APM Lite, CGN, SSLO, Advanced Routing, Advanced Protocols, 10 Mbps, v11.6.x - v16.x)
Now from the partner they ask the following:
- In the future, can I add SWG to this virtual machine? Or is already included?
- Besides the APM "lite", all the other modules are "full" version or they have any restriction? (Besides the 10 Mbps)
- Is this a perpetual subscription for this VM?
- Can I add some license to improve the APM "lite" version?
Any help you can send my way, I'd appreciate it!

No you cannot buy add-on licenses for this. Anything that requires additional licenses will not be available.
They are full versions with the exception of APM lite, limited to 10 CCU see K13267
Yes its perpetual.
No. Its a lab license designed for testing configuration, not production deployments. 10Mpbs is also divided between the active tmm's on the device. In a VE this is usually two so 5Mbps each.
You won't be able to upgrade to later versions of BIG-IP if you cannot renew your license. Renewal requires an active support agreement with F5. This can be purchased with the license for approx $20USD per year. I suggest you pay for a few years up front if you intended to keep upgrading it.
